LONDON (Reuters Life!) - Drug-addled comedy "Pineapple Express" topped the UK film charts after its opening weekend, keeping "Mamma Mia!" down in second place for yet another week.

The story of how a lazy court clerk witnesses a murder by a crooked cop and a drug baron took 1.37 million pounds, according to Screen International.

The Abba-themed musical Mamma Mia! has now been 10 weeks in the UK charts but remains at number two.

Last week's chart-topper, director Guy Ritchie's latest gangster flick "RocknRolla", was down at three.

"The Women", with Meg Ryan and Annette Bening, was new at four with its tale of gossip and bonding while "The Duchess", an 18th century costume drama starring Keira Knightly was down two places at five.

At six, down from four, was "Step Brothers", with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, while "Disaster Movie", a comedy spoof created by the team behind "Scary Movie" and "Meet the Spartans", fell from five to seven.

New at eight was "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas," the tale of the young son of Nazi officer who makes an unlikely new friend at a concentration camp.

"The Strangers", a thriller starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman, fell three places to nine while Batman movie "The Dark Knight" was also down three, at 10.
