Alonso worries about his Formula One future

MONACO (Reuters) - Double world champion Fernando Alonso feared for his future on Wednesday with Renault and Ferrari threatening to quit Formula One if the 2010 regulations are not rewritten.

"Here... I will be 100 percent focused on the grand prix, with the weekend," the Spaniard, who has been regularly linked with a move to Ferrari from Renault, told reporters at the Monaco Grand Prix.

"But it is true that last week when I was at home it was impossible to switch off because I don't know if this will be my last time in Monaco.

"If the big teams and the big manufacturers leave Formula One then I don't want to race with small teams, because it is not any more F1 and there are many other categories," added the 27-year-old.

The governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) has put forward an optional 40 million pound ($61.93 million) budget cap for 2010 with those accepting it offered greater technical freedom than teams staying with unrestricted budgets.

Although FIA president Max Mosley has said there will not be a two-tier championship, with all teams expected to race with a cap, champions Ferrari have said they cannot accept the regulations.  Continued...
