MUMBAI, May 9 (Reuters) - The Indian unit of South Korea's biggest fund firm Mirae Asset plans to launch an equity scheme that will invest in leading firms in terms of market capitalisation or market share.

Mirae Asset India Sector Leader Fund will invest at least 65 percent of the assets in stocks and the rest in debt and money market instruments, the firm said in an offer document filed with India's market regulator on Friday.

The equity fund can also invest up to a quarter of its assets in foreign securities, it added. (Reporting by Nishant Kumar; editing by Prem Udayabhanu)
