MEMPHIS (Reutes) - Brian Gay had a one shot lead at the close of the delayed second round of the St Jude Classic on Saturday but Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington and Henrik Stenson all missed the cut.

The American's overnight lead of two shots was cut back to a single stroke when play resumed on Saturday morning following an early finish on Friday due to thundery weather.

Australian Robert Allenby completed his second round six under-par (64) to move to nine-under overall and just a shot behind Gay.

Americans Bryce Molder and Vaughn Taylor are tied in third, eight under-par overall.

With the cut set at evens, Spaniard Garcia, who was three-over, failed to make it into the third round along with Irishman Harrington who - needing birdies - produced two bogeys from his remaining three holes to exit the competition.

Swede Stenson, the winner of the Players Championship in May finished eight over par.

Britain's Richard Johnson will also be packing his bags after following up a solid first round 67 with a dreadful seven-over second round featuring nine bogeys.
