Mercedes plans to simplify car construction-paper
FRANKFURT, May 10 (Reuters) - Daimler AG's (DAIGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) premium division Mercedes-Benz plans to make the construction of its different models more similar to cut costs, Automotive News Europe paper reported, citing a Daimler board member.
Mercedes-Benz plans to make the drive system, axis, brakes and parts of the electrical system of all the 1.3 million cars it builds interchangeable, Thomas Weber, member of the management board of Daimler said, according to the biweekly paper. (Reporting by Peter Dinkloh)
