Platmin resumes mining at Pilanesberg, South Africa
TORONTO, June 12 (Reuters)- Platmin Ltd (PPN.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Friday mining activities have resumed at the Pilanesberg platinum mine in South Africa after adjustments to their operating procedures were made.
Last week mining operations carried out by MCC Contracts were suspended by safety inspectors from the Department of Minerals and Energy.
In a press release the South African-based company said stoppage of production was negligible and the plant was unaffected, with material being taken from the mine's stockpile.
MCC was appointed in July 2008 to conduct the open-cast mining activities at Pilanesberg. (Reporting by Nina Lex)
