Hong Kong stocks rise, but Dongfang Elec slides

HONG KONG, May 16 (Reuters) - Hong Kong stocks rose 0.6 percent on Friday on the back of firmer global equities, but Dongfang Electric (1072.HK: Quote, Profile, Research) fell nearly 12 percent on news that its production was seriously damaged by the earthquake in China. [ID:nHKG339624]

The benchmark Hang Seng Index .HSI opened up 151.93 points at 25,665.64. The China Enterprises Index of Hong Kong-listed companies .HSCE, or H shares, had risen 0.6 percent by 0202 GMT. (Reporting by Alison Leung; Editing by Anne Marie Roantree)
