India Hot Stocks:Power, construction cos up on nuclear deal hope

MUMBAI, July 8 (Reuters) - The following stocks were on the move at the BSE on Tuesday.

At 1:31 p.m. the benchmark 30-share BSE index was down 1.8 percent at 13,276.98 points.

The 50-share National Stock Exchange Index was down 1.6 percent at 3,967.00 points.

* Power sectors firms Areva T&D (AREV.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) and construction companies Larsen & Toubro (LART.BO: Quote, Profile, Research), Hindustan Construction Co (HCNS.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) and Gammon India (GAMM.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) were trading up 1-7 percent in a weak market on hopes the Indo-US nuclear deal would go through.

The government's communist allies said on Tuesday they are withdrawing support, forcing it to form fresh alliances with political partners in favour of the deal. These companies will benefit from civilian nuclear trade, said dealers.
