SpiceJet may suspend flights on some routes - official
NEW DELHI, June 4 (Reuters) - SpiceJet (SPJT.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) will consider temporarily suspending flights on financially unviable routes, a director at the low-cost carrier said on Wednesday, as losses mount on account of surging jet-fuel prices, "We will look at unviable routes and will look at if we can temporarily suspend, as all other airlines," Ajay Singh told reporters after meeting the civil aviation secretary.
Earlier in the day, the civil aviation secretary had said Indian airlines could double their losses in 2008/09 from 40 billion rupees in the previous year, on account of rising fuel costs. (Reporting by Rakesh Sharma; Editing by Ramya Venugopal)
