Indian shares track weak Asian markets

MUMBAI, July 3 (Reuters) - Indian stocks opened 0.7 percent lower on Friday after Asian shares slipped and investors held back from taking large positions ahead of next week's federal budget.

By 9.56 a.m. (0426 GMT), the 30-share BSE Index .BSESN was down 0.4 percent at 14,596.7 points, with 23 stocks falling.

The 50-share NSE index .NSEI was 0.5 percent lower at 4,327.8 points. (Reporting by Prashant Mehra; Editing by Anshuman Daga)
