India April commodity turnover at 3.38 tln rupees
MUMBAI, May 13 (Reuters) - The combined turnover of India's commodity bourses rose 8.3 percent to 3.38 trillion rupees in April, the first month of 2008/09 fiscal, data from the regulator Forward Markets Commission showed.
The turnover rose 5.59 percent to 1.70 trillion rupees, for the fortnight ending April 30, the data showed.
India allowed futures trading in commodities in 2003 and the turnover at 24 Indian commodity exchanges stood at 40.66 trillion rupees in the financial year 2007/08.
