HK shares open up 2.2 pct, helped by data

HONG KONG, July 2 (Reuters) - Hong Kong shares will open 2.2 percent higher on their first trading day of the third quarter, lifted by upbeat manufacturing data from China, Europe and the United States and talk of strong growth in new lending on the mainland in June.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index .HSI will start 402.23 points higher at 18,780.96.

The China Enterprises Index .HSCE, which represents top locally listed mainland Chinese stocks, will open up 2.7 percent at 11,257.53. (Reporting by Parvathy Ullatil; Editing by Ken Wills)
