MUMBAI (Reuters) - Actors Ajay Devgan and Kajol team up to stop a war between animated characters in what will be Bollywood's first attempt at a live action animation film.

The husband-wife duo play themselves while sharing screen space with 50 animated characters in "Toonpur Ka Superhero," a film being made on the lines of Hollywood's "Space Jam" and "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" .

"Ajay and Kajol will accidentally get transported into the world of cartoons who are engaged in a war against each other and they will try to save the situation," said director Kireet Khurana.

Although Hollywood has used the technique several times, most recently in last year's hit "Alvin and the Chipmunks," the makers of "Toonpur Ka Superhero" hope to cash in on Bollywood's first experiment with the format.

"It is a very new thing here (in India) and we are hopeful that it will work," Khurana said.
