EU urges China to show restraint in China

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - European Union leaders urged China to show restraint in Tibet following an outbreak of violence in Lhasa on Friday, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said.

"The Slovenian EU presidency proposed a text that we accepted in three paragraphs which ask for restraint, which asks for those arrested for protesting for Tibet ... to be released," he told a news confernce after a summit of the 27-nation bloc in Brussels.
