NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Videocon Industries is considering entering into nuclear generation and along with other companies is lobbying the government to amend a law that will permit private nuclear generation, its chairman said..

"Forty Indian companies are there. They are studying nuclear power. We are among that 40 companies. We are in that dialogue targeting nuclear power," Venugopal Dhoot told reporters on the sidelines of a conference on Monday.

The 45-member Nuclear Suppliers Group on Saturday lifted a 34-year-old nuclear trade ban against India, paving the way for new sources of power.

When asked for details, Dhoot said, "At the appropriate time I will come and tell you."
