Iqbal Qasim to head new Pakistan selection team
KARACHI (Reuters) - Former Pakistan test spinner Iqbal Qasim has been appointed head of a new seven-member selection committee announced by the country's board on Monday.
Last month, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dissolved the senior and junior selection committees after chief selector Abdul Qadir resigned under acrimonious circumstances prior to Pakistan's Twenty20 World Cup victory in England.
The board said in a statement that the new panel would be responsible for picking all teams, as opposed to the separate committees used to select senior and junior teams in the past.
The committee is completed by former test players Ijaz Ahmed, Saleem Jaffer, Azhar Khan, Mohammad Illyas as well as Farrukh Zaman and Asif Baloch.
