NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Prime Minister Manmohan Singh followed correct procedures regarding a request to probe alleged corruption involving his now-sacked telecoms minister, according to a document obtained by Reuters on Saturday.

Attorney General GE Vahanvati filed an affidavit on behalf of the prime minister with the Supreme Court on Saturday, where he defended his actions over a growing corruption scandal involving former Telecoms Minister Andimuthu Raja.

The affidavit said Singh had done “all that was required in the interest of probity”. (Reporting by Krittivas Mukherjee; Editing by Paul de Bendern)
