S.Africa's Eskom-coal biggest risk to power security
CAPE TOWN, March 5 (Reuters) - South Africa's power utility Eskom [ESCJ.UL] said on Wednesday coal supplies posed the biggest threat to the security of electricity supply in the country.
South Africa has suffered electricity shortages which Eskom has partly attributed to inadequate coal supplies.
"We have enough resources in the country and we just have to make sure the allocations of this is done correctly and that we don't put South Africa's security of supply at risk," Eskom Chief Operating Officer Brian Dames told a parliamentary committee.
"And I must say that coal is the biggest risk in terms of the country's security of supply." (Reporting by Wendell Roelf)
