MOSCOW, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Russia's largest independent gas producer Novatek (NVTK.MM: Quote, Profile, Research) posted third-quarter net profit of 5.68 billion roubles on Monday, slightly exceeding an average analyst's forecast of 5.42 billion roubles.

It beat forecasts despite a 962 million rouble foreign exchange loss as the U.S. dollar rose 7.6 percent against the rouble, making its foreign currency debt more expensive.

Novatek reported third-quarter revenues of 20.46 billion roubles ($758.9 million), up from 15.2 billion roubles a year ago.

Novatek Global Depositary Receipts on the London Stock Exchange rose 3.95 percent at $39.87 per share. In Moscow, the shares closed up 8.01 percent at 102.61 roubles per share.

Analysts polled by Reuters forecast revenues rising 30.3 percent to 19.8 billion roubles.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at 9.63 billion roubles, up 26.7 percent.

Novatek, in which Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom (GAZP.MM: Quote, Profile, Research) has a 19.4 percent stake, produced 7.64 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas in the third quarter, up 27.1 percent year-on-year.

The company plans to increase gas output by around 10 percent this year from 28.5 bcm last year and wants to further increase gas production to 45 bcm by 2010 and 65 bcm by 2015. (Reporting by Melissa Akin and Amie Ferris-Rotman; Editing by David Cowell)
