MEXICO CITY, March 3 (Reuters) - Mexico discovered new proven oil and gas reserves sufficient to replace 74.9 percent of production in 2009, according to a preliminary estimate released by state oil monopoly Pemex on Wednesday.

Pemex [PEMX.UL] said its preliminary estimate of reserves replacement under the wider definition of proven, probable and possible reserves was 157.9 percent of 2009 production. (Reporting by Robert Campbell)
