Mexican stocks fall 2 pct on U.S. jobless data

MEXICO CITY Feb 4 (Reuters) - The IPC index of leading Mexican shares .MXX extended losses on Thursday, dropping 2 percent to 30,651 after U.S. data suggested improvement in employment will be slow.

Mexico's economy is tightly linked to that of its northern neighbor.

Data released on Thursday showed new applications for U.S. jobless benefits rose unexpectedly last week, adding to worries over sovereign debt in some euro zone countries too. (Reporting by Noe Torres and Liz Salazar; Editing by James Dalgleish)
