PREVIEW-Mexico May economic activity seen up 7.95 pct y/y

Tue Jul 27, 2010 2:59am IST

WHAT: Mexico May economic activity

WHEN: Tuesday, July 27, 9 a.m. (1400 GMT)

REUTERS FORECAST: Median +7.95 pct y/y May vs +7.24 pct y/y April. Fourteen clients participated in the survey and the range was +6.1 pct and +9.0 pct.

FACTORS TO WATCH: Mexico is slowly recovering from a deep recession but cracks are showing in its factory-led rebound, which is seen giving the central bank more room to leave interest rates low into next year.

Analysts expect economic output jumped in May compared to April MXIGDP=ECI, which would show how far the country has come from a year earlier. At the same time, with a slowdown evident in manufacturing, the seasonally adjusted reading MXIGAE=ECI could give a better idea of the health of the overall economy.
