Taiwan's TSMC shares up more than 3 pct on strong Q1

TAIPEI, April 30 (Reuters) - Shares of TSMC (2330.TW: Quote, Profile, Research) rose more than 3 percent on Wednesday after the company said its first quarter net profit rose a better-than-expected 49 percent.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) shares were up 3.09 percent at T$66.70 at 0311 GMT, compared with a 0.43 percent rise for the benchmark TAIEX share index .TWII.
