U.S. retail gasoline price at record $3.72/gln-EIA
WASHINGTON, May 12 (Reuters) - U.S. drivers dug deeper in their pockets to fill up at the pump, as the average price for gasoline skyrocketed 10.9 cents over the last week to a new record of $3.72 a gallon, the federal Energy Information Administration said on Monday.
The national price for regular, self-service gasoline is up 62 cents from a year ago due to soaring crude oil prices that hit a record $126.40 a barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange on Monday. (Reporting by Tom Doggett)
