Mortgage insurer MGIC posts 2nd-qtr loss
NEW YORK, July 17 (Reuters) - MGIC Investment Corp (MTG.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the largest U.S. mortgage insurer, posted a quarterly loss on Thursday after a year-earlier profit, as more homeowners fell behind on mortgage payments.
Milwaukee-based MGIC posted a second-quarter net loss of $97.9 million, or 79 cents a share, compared with net income of $76.7 million, or 93 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.
