Bill to curb pension costs fails in Illinois Senate vote

CHICAGO, Feb 8 (Reuters) - A key bill in a bipartisan legislative package aimed at ending Illinois’ long-running budget impasse failed to pass in the state Senate on Wednesday.

The measure, which would ease Illinois’ $130 billion unfunded pension liability, was rejected by a 29-18 vote. (Reporting by Karen Pierog and Dave McKinney; Editing by Peter Cooney)
