Indian shares open down 0.4 percent

MUMBAI, May 14 (Reuters) - Indian shares opened 0.37 percent lower on Wednesday, led down by top private lender ICICI Bank Ltd (ICBK.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) and Reliance Industries Ltd (RELI.BO: Quote, Profile, Research).

At 9:55 a.m. (0425 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was down 0.76 percent or 126.51 points at 16,626.35.

The 50-issue NSE index was down 0.42 percent at 4,936.80.
