Indian shares extend gains to 2 pct

MUMBAI, May 15 (Reuters) - Indian shares extended gains to more than 2 percent by late afternoon on Thursday, led by gains in Reliance Industries Ltd (RELI.BO: Quote, Profile, Research), Infosys Technologies Ltd (INFY.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) and ICICI Bank Ltd (ICBK.BO: Quote, Profile, Research).

By 3:04 p.m. (0934 GMT), the benchmark 30-issue BSE index was up 350.66 points at 17,329.01 points, with 24 components gaining.

The broader 50-issue NSE index rose 1.98 percent to 5,111.20 points. (Reporting by Hiral Vora; Editing by Ranjit Gangadharan)
