Italy energy regulator backs separation of ENI, SNAM

ROME, May 30 (Reuters) - Italy's energy regulator on Wednesday gave a favourable opinion on a government decree stipulating the separation of gas company Snam from oil major ENI.

The decree gives Eni up to 18 months to sell down its 52.5 percent stake in Snam which is worth around 6 billion euros ($7.5 billion) at current market prices.
