BISHKEK, July 23 Kyrgyzstan's interior ministry
said an opposition rally in the capital Bishkek planned on
Thursday was illegal, and it would take steps to prevent it.
"Such a march would be illegal. We will enforce necessary
measures within the framework of law," said Interior Ministry
spokesman Bakyt Seyitov.
Earlier the opposition called on its supporters to join
protests later in the day over the conduct of Thursday's
presidential election which it has described as fraudulent.
The main opposition challenger Almazbek Atambayev said
demonstrators planned to march through the centre of Bishkek and
rally outside the central election commission.
