BISHKEK, July 23 Kyrgyzstan's interior ministry said an opposition rally in the capital Bishkek planned on Thursday was illegal, and it would take steps to prevent it.
"Such a march would be illegal. We will enforce necessary measures within the framework of law," said Interior Ministry spokesman Bakyt Seyitov.
Earlier the opposition called on its supporters to join protests later in the day over the conduct of Thursday's presidential election which it has described as fraudulent.
The main opposition challenger Almazbek Atambayev said demonstrators planned to march through the centre of Bishkek and rally outside the central election commission. (Writing by Maria Golovnina; Editing by Jon Boyle)
