Sterling rises to 3-month high against dollar

LONDON, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Sterling rose to its highest in three months against the dollar on Tuesday, tracking gains in the euro on talk the European Central Bank will take action to ease Spanish and Italian borrowing costs.

Sterling rose 0.5 percent on the day to $1.5784, its highest since May 22. (Reporting by Jessica Mortimer; editing by Nia Williams)
