Merrill hires Morgan Stanley's Caroline Silver

LONDON, May 12 (Reuters) - Merrill Lynch & Co Inc (MER.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it made Caroline Silver vice chairman of Investment Banking for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Silver was previously vice chairman of Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley (MS.N: Quote, Profile, Research), where she spent 15 years, Merrill said in a statement.

Transactions Silver has worked on include the sales of Schering to Bayer AG and Abbey National to Banco Santander SA, the acquisition of Borsa Italiana by the London Stock Exchange and the merger of EuroNext and the New York Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Eleanor Wason; Editing by Quentin Bryar)
