(BBA corrects its comment to make clear only overnight dollar and Canadian dollar Libor fixings would not be conducted on Monday)

LONDON, Oct 13 (Reuters) - The British Bankers Association will not fix London interbank offered rates for overnight dollars on Monday because some U.S. markets are closed.

"Libor is based on London trading so we fix on all London business days. The exception to this is for the shortest dated rates if the home market is shut," said John Ewan, director at the BBA, told Reuters.

"Therefore we will calculate all rates today except overnight U.S. dollars and overnight Canadian dollars," he said.

The BBA's Libor fixings are released between 1000 and 1100 GMT.

The U.S. bond market is closed on Monday for the Columbus Day holiday, but U.S. stock markets will open.

Short-term interbank dollar lending rates have soared in recent weeks as financial institutions -- particularly non-U.S. firms -- scrambled to roll over funding of dollar assets and fill the exposure on their books resulting form the falling value of these assets.

Since the demise of Lehman Brothers a month ago overnight dollar Libor has been fixed significantly above the Federal Reserve's target rate -- which was cut last week to 1.5 percent -- but it fell the last two trading sessions.
