Euro extends gains vs dollar, hits six-week highs
NEW YORK, May 8 (Reuters) - The euro extended gains against the dollar on Friday to hit a six-week high after a better-than-expected U.S. jobs report bolstered hopes the global recession may be easing and dented safe-haven demand for the greenback.
Gains in the U.S. stock market also helped improve investor appetite for risk and added to pressure on the dollar.
The euro rose to as high as $1.3587 EUR=, the highest level since March 27. It was last up 1.3 percent at $1.3579.
