El Salvador rightist concedes defeat to ex-rebels

SAN SALVADOR, March 15 (Reuters) - El Salvador's ruling party candidate Rodrigo Avila conceded defeat in Sunday's presidential election to leftist Mauricio Funes of the former guerrilla FMLN party.

"We will be a constructive opposition," Avila told supporters of his conservative ARENA party, which has ruled the Central American country for 20 years. (Reporting by Anahi Rama and Catherine Bremer)
