Brazil offers to buy dollars in spot forex market
SAO PAULO, May 8 (Reuters) - Brazil's central bank offered to buy dollars in the spot foreign exchange market on Friday, the first time it has sought to purchase the U.S. currency in eight months.
The real (BRBY: Quote, Profile, Research) gained 1.9 percent to 2.069 per U.S. dollar shortly after the central bank announcement.
