Nikkei edges down as exporters slip, eyes on yen

TOKYO, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average edged down 0.5 percent on Monday, with Canon Inc (7751.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and other exporters hit by wariness about the U.S. economy after mixed jobs data as well as by a stronger yen. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp (9432.T: Quote, Profile, Research) (NTT) slipped 1.6 percent after the Nikkei business daily said it will likely report an operating profit of about 630 billion yen ($7.01 billion) for the April-September first half, a drop of 15 percent from the same period last year.
