CANADA STOCKS-TSX up 1 percent on U.S. bank optimism
TORONTO, April 13 (Reuters) - Toronto's main stock index was up 1 percent at midafternoon on Monday as financial shares rallied ahead of quarterly U.S. bank earnings this week that investors hope will show stabilization in the sector.
At 2:00 p.m. (1800 GMT), the S&P/TSX composite index .GSPTSE was up 92.75 points, or 1.01 percent, at 9,279.87, its highest level since Jan. 7. (Reporting by Frank Pingue; editing by Peter Galloway)
