Bank of Ireland says no takeover approaches
DUBLIN, July 8 (Reuters) - Bank of Ireland (BKIR.I: Quote, Profile, Research) has no approaches on the table that could lead to a takeover of the bank, Governor Richard Burrows said on Tuesday.
"As of today, standing here in front of you, we have no approaches from any companies with respect to anything that could lead to a takeover of Bank of Ireland," Burrows said when pressed by shareholders to say whether there had been any bid interest in the bank.
Burrows had declined to comment in response to previous questions, saying that he did not want to fuel speculation.
