LONDON, May 20 (Reuters) - BMI's controlling shareholder BBW Partnership Ltd said on Wednesday it has initiated action against Lufthansa (LHAG.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) in the UK's High Court, requesting that the German airline be forced to complete the acquisition of British Midland.

The move follows speculation that Deutsche Lufthansa may walk away from the deal inked last October, unless BMI's majority investor provides it with more capital.[ID:nLB39811]

Lufthansa said it did not have any information about the legal action and declined to comment further on moves it may take.

BBW Partnership Ltd said it has also begun proceedings to declare that it has "fulfilled all the necessary regulatory requirements to complete the sale of BMI to Lufthansa".  Continued...
