MILAN, May 30 (Reuters) - There is no truth in reports of merger talks between Deutsche Boerse (DB1Gn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research) and NYSE Euronext (NYX.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the head of NYSE Euronext told Milano Finanza newspaper in an interview published on Saturday.

Last month, Germany's magazine manager said the two companies were close to a deal to form what would be the world's biggest stock exchange operator by market value. German magazine Der Spiegel carried a similar report in December. "No. They are baseless rumours," NYSE Euronext Chief Executive Officer Duncan Niederauer said in the interview with Milano Finanza, conducted earlier this month.

Deutsche Boerse Chief Executive Reto Francioni told shareholders on May 20 that the magazin report was "a rumour" and that the company did not comment on rumours. [ID:nLK293449] (Reporting by Jo Winterbottom, editing by Mike Peacock)
