Mexico's peso pares losses after central bank hikes rate

MEXICO CITY, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Mexico's peso pared losses on Thursday after the central bank raised interest rates in a bid to support the currency after the U.S. Federal Reserve lifted borrowing costs.

The peso traded 0.11 percent weaker at 16.9936, breaking back past the key 17 per dollar level after trading as much as 1 percent weaker earlier in the session.
