- GOVT MAY PUSH STATE FIRMS TO BUY LOCAL GOODS
 The government is considering issuing a regulation
requiring state-owned companies to allocate 30-50 percent of
their spending for the purchase of local goods to help boost
the economy, said Industry Minister M.S. Hidayat. (Jakarta
Globe)
 - INDO TAMBANGRAYA DOUBLES NET PROFIT
 Indonesian coal miner PT Indo Tambangraya Megah's (ITMG.JK: Quote, Profile, Research)
nine-month net profit rose 104 percent to $265.8 million from a
year ago, while revenue climbed 16.4 percent to $1.04 billion
in the same period, corporate secretary Roslini Onwardi said.

 - LONDON SUMATRA'S 9-MTH PROFIT DOWN 31.8 PCT
 Indonesian plantation firm PT Perusahaan Perkebunan London
Sumatra Tbk (LSIP.JK: Quote, Profile, Research) reported a 31.8 percent drop in
nine-month net profit to 489.32 billion rupiah ($52 million)
due to easing commodity prices. (Kontan)
 MARKET SNAPSHOTS
 * Indonesia's index fell 1.02 percent on Tuesday with coal
miner Bumi Resources (BUMI.JK: Quote, Profile, Research) down 6.5 percent after it
announced plans to increase its debt by raising $300 million
from the sale of seven-year notes. [.SO]
 * U.S stocks closed mostly lower on Tuesday as differing
views on whether the market can build on recent gains stalled
the S&P 500's six-day winning streak. [.N]
 * Oil prices fell on Tuesday as the dollar firmed and
energy companies began restoring offshore operations disrupted
by Tropical Storm Ida. [O/R]

 * Malaysian crude palm oil futures fell on Tuesday on fears
that palm stocks in the world's number 2 producer may rise to a
previous record above 2 million tonnes after climbing faster
than expected in October, traders said. [POI/]
 * In Indonesia, the state marketing centre, based in
Jakarta, sold 11,000 tonnes of palm oil at a top price of 6,549
rupiah per kg on Tuesday, against 6,515 rupiah per kg on

ASIA MARKETS NEWS - For an outlook of Asian stock trading,
click on [STXNEWS/AS] - The Philippine peso and Thai baht hit
multi-week highs against a broadly weaker dollar on Tuesday,
but their gains were capped by suspected official intervention.
[EMRG/FRX] - Singapore's shares climbed to their highest in
three weeks and Malaysian stocks hit 17-month highs on Tuesday
as palm oil firms such as Wilmar and Sime Darby extended gains
amid optimism about the outlook for palm prices. [.SO]
