MADRID, May 18 (Reuters) - Spanish utility Iberdrola (IBE.MC: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Sunday it would invest $8 billion in renewable energy in the United States between 2008 and 2010.

A company statement said Iberdrola had wind parks with a total installed capacity of some 2,400 megawatts at the end of the first quarter in the U.S. and hoped to close the year with 3,600 MW.

Iberdrola added that it aimed to have a 15-percent share of the U.S. wind power market by 2010. (Reporting by Martin Roberts; Editing by Jason Neely)
