Iraq refinery resumes operations after power cut

BASRA, Iraq, March 29 (Reuters) - Iraq's second-biggest refinery resumed operations in Basra, two days after a power cut halted production, a South Oil Company official said on Saturday.

"Electricity has come back to the (Shuaiba) refinery. We are now working to put all production units back up," the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters.

The first refining unit, which produces 75,000 barrels per day of refined crude, has resumed normal operations, but the two other units are still down, the official said.

The complex has the capacity to refine 160,000 barrels per day of oil for the domestic market, according to the Oil Ministry.
