UK auctions 4.2 mln carbon permits at 14.20 eur/t
LONDON, Nov 5 (Reuters) - The British government auctioned 4.2 million European Union carbon emissions permits at 14.20 euros a tonne, it said on Thursday.
Britain's seventh auction raised 59.64 million euros for the UK Treasury. <DMO/CARBON01> On France's BlueNext exchange BNXCO2-2 the permits, called EU Allowances, traded at 14.26 euros a tonne at 1009 GMT on Thursday.
The UK Debt Management Office, which oversees the auctions, said a total of 18.61 million bids were received.
The government has auctioned 29 million permits since last November and plans to auction another 48.4 million through April 2011. [ID:L547955] (Reporting by Nina Chestney; Editing by William Hardy)
