Kazakhstan replaces state oil company CEO

ALMATY, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan has replaced the chief executive officer at state oil and gas company Kazmunaigas [KMG.UL] for the second time in three months, the company said on Wednesday.

Kairgeldy Kabyldin, 55, until now chairman of Kazmunaigas, had taken over from Serik Burkitbayev, 50, as chief executive, Kazmunaigas said in a statement.

It gave no reason for the replacement of Burkitbayev who was appointed in late May. [ID:nL29817472]

KazMunaiGas owns minority stakes in the Central Asian country's largest oil projects, such as Tengiz and Kashagan, as well as a controlling stake in the London-listed upstream company KazMunaiGas E&P (KMGq.L: Quote, Profile, Research) RDGZ.KZ. (Writing by Olzhas Auyezov; editing by Sue Thomas)
