Valero sees Houston Alky unit out through Wed.
HOUSTON, April 1 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N: Quote, Profile, Research) expects the alkylation unit at its 130,000 barrel per day Houston refinery will remain shut through Wednesday after a Monday fire in an electrical substation caused the unit to go down, said a company spokesman on Tuesday.
The refinery's gasoline-producing fluidic catalytic cracking unit's operation was unaffected by the alky unit shutdown, and Valero expects no material impact on production coming from the refinery due to the outage, said company spokesman Bill Day.
The electrical substation fire triggered a loss of cooling water to the alky unit, according to a notice filed Monday with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by John Picinich)
