Mexico energy reform plan should boost GDP-official
MEXICO CITY, April 18 (Reuters) - A government proposal to overhaul Mexico's state-controlled energy sector could boost gross domestic product (GDP) by close to 1 percent if approved, Energy Minister Georgina Kessel said on Friday.
Kessel said the oil industry reform plan -- which members of the opposition are resisting in Congress as well as in street protests -- would create new jobs and infrastructure in Mexico. (Reporting by Michael O'Boyle)
