Int'l Power to buy U.S power assets for $856 mln

LONDON, May 12 (Reuters) - Electricity firm International Power (IPR.L: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it had agreed to buy a 1,857 megawatt portfolio of generation facilities, including plants in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland, for $856.4 million.

The British-based firm said it was buying the portfolio from a subsidiary of Tenaska Power Fund, L.P. and an affiliate of Warburg Pincus LLC. (Reporting by Mark Potter; editing by Rory Channing)
